Workforce Screening and Registration

Categories 1-6

Overview

The current screening process checks a person’s criminal history and work-related misconduct to make sure they’re suitable to work with older people.

This may either involve the NDIS worker screening check or a police check.

The Australian Government is working to introduce a more robust screening process, aligned with the NDIS worker screening check. It will also recognise Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (Ahpra) registration.

This new process won’t start before mid-2026.
