Dementia & Dignity of Risk

In this practical, one hour online session, you’ll strengthen your understanding of dignity of risk – what it means for CHSP and Support at Home-funded aged care and how to apply it when supporting people living with dementia.

We’ll walk through real-world risks commonly faced in community settings and show you how to balance safety with autonomy, ensuring people living with dementia maintain independence, choice and dignity. You'll leave feeling more confident in making and supporting dignity of risk decisions in your everyday work.

  • Supporting people living with dementia using a Dignity of Risk approach

  • Balancing risks and benefits while upholding choice and rights

  • Practical scenarios and decision-making tools you can use straight away

  • How to break down dignity of risk decision-making – identify the WHY, the risks, the benefits, and risk minimisation strategies

  • When and how to support people living with dementia to make decisions that reflect their values and goals
