Hygienic Practices for Food Safety

Build essential, accredited skills for safely handling, preparing and storing food to avoid contamination and food-borne illnesses.

This training is for volunteers and staff working in CHSP and Support at Home-funded aged care.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this session, you will:

  • Receive a Statement of Attainment for SITXFSA005 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety

  • Understand safe and hygienic food practices

  • Understand Work Health and Safety procedures in kitchens and other food preparation areas

  • Have access to an online student handbook

Pre-requisites: None.

Workshow Delivery

Classroom based with access to kitchen facilities, under the guidance of a supportive trainer.

Assessment

Online assessments are marked on the day of training.
There will be practical activities, case studies and written exercises.

What to bring and wear

Please wear:

  • Clean clothes

  • Fully enclosed, non-slip shoes (closed toe and heel)

You’ll receive everything you need for the day, including hairnets and latex-free gloves.

  • Particularly suited to people working in Social Support Groups

Cost 

This workshop is offered at no cost to volunteers and staff involved with CHSP and Support at Home-funded organisations.
