This practical session introduces the new Sensitive Conversations Toolkit – a resource to help your team engage respectfully, confidently and safely in challenging conversations with older people.
What the workshop covers
During the session, you’ll:
Be introduced to the Toolkit
Participate in all 11 modules, facilitated by the Toolkit developer
Explore how to embed the modules into your internal training
Build confidence to run the modules with your own staff
Ask questions, share experiences and learn with your peers.
You’ll leave with a clear plan for using the Toolkit in your organisation.
About the Toolkit
The Sensitive Conversations Toolkit is an easy-to-use training resource designed for aged care services. It uses real-world case studies to help staff:
Build rapport and trust with older people
Navigate sensitive or complex conversations
Respond to diverse cultural, spiritual and faith-based needs
Apply trauma-aware and healing-informed approaches
It’s designed to support implementation of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the Aged Care Statement of Rights, by building workforce capability in culturally responsive communication and recognising the impact of trauma and distressing events on older people.

This training is for team leaders, coordinators and managers working in CHSP and Support at Home-funded aged care who are responsible for:

Whether you’re new to facilitation or looking to strengthen your approach, you’ll be supported in a practical, collaborative environment.

Dale Park – Diversity Training and Consulting
Dale is a skilled facilitator and coach with deep experience across aged care, health and education. He developed the Sensitive Conversations Toolkit and specialises in inclusive, trauma-aware training. Dale brings a warm, grounded approach to every session – helping people feel safe, supported and challenged in their learning.
