Q When can someone on Support at Home also access CHSP services?

A: In emergency situations, a Support at Home participant can access short-term CHSP services if:

  • They have an urgent and immediate health or safety need

  • Their individualised Support at Home budget is fully allocated

These CHSP services must be:

  • Short-term

  • Monitored

  • Reviewed regularly

What CHSP providers need to know

1. Only offer services if you have capacity
CHSP services for Support at Home participants should only be provided when it won’t impact current or future CHSP clients.

2. Client contributions still apply
Support at Home participants must pay standard CHSP client fees. Their Support at Home budget can’t be used to pay CHSP contributions.

3. Providers must monitor and review

  • 2 months is the usual guide for short-term care

  • Providers must regularly review the client’s progress

  • If needs change, refer for a Support Plan Review – and request a new assessment if needed
