Q: What do we need to report now to be compliant with DEX requirements, and what should we be thinking about for Stage 3?

DEX

A: From 1 January 2026, CHSP providers need to include the My Aged Care (MAC) ID in DEX reporting. This will become mandatory by 30 June 2026.

For now, focus on capturing MAC IDs consistently, checking your systems and workflows support this, and preparing your team for full compliance.

Stage 3 changes are still being developed and won’t be released until after testing and assurance activities begin in mid August 2026. However, it’s worth preparing now, as these changes will increase the level of detail required in DEX reporting.

Expected new fields include:

  • whether a session was delivered by a subcontractor or volunteer

  • where services were delivered (for some service types)

  • whether overnight care or meals were provided during respite

  • types of meals provided (for example main meal, light meal, snack or beverage)

  • whether delivered meals were prepared off-site

  • time spent with the older person for delivered meals and transport

  • trip distance and time for transport services

Further details are available in the CHSP Guide to Data Exchange (DEX) Stage 3 Changes, with more information expected closer to activation in the live DEX environment.
